This report provides forecasts concerning yields per hectare and total production of cereals and oilseed crops for the year 2015. The results are presented at the national level.
Yield per hectare
Yields per hectare are estimated to increase for most of the cereal crops compared with 2014. One of the crops with the highest expected increase in yield compared with 2014 is Mixed grain (+14 %). Yields from all crops are expected to increase compared with the average yields per hectare for the last five years as well.
Yields per hectare for oilseed crops are estimated to mostly increase compared with 2014. Yield of Winter rape is expected to decrease by 6 % compared with the previous year. Compared with the average yield per hectare for the last five years, the yield of Winter rape is estimated to increase by 4 %.
The forecast shows that the total production of cereals is estimated to be 6.1 million tonnes in 2015, which is 5 % more than 2014 and 23 % more than the average for the years 2010–2014. The main reasons for the higher total production of cereals estimated for 2015 are the large area cultivated with Winter wheat as well as a higher yield per hectare of Winter wheat, 7 460 kg.
This year’s harvest of oilseeds is estimated to be 0.32 million tonnes, which is about 1 % less than in 2014. Compared with the average total production of oilseeds for the last five years, the estimation of the production in 2015 is 6 % higher. The area cultivated with oilseeds 2015 is estimated to decrease by 1 % compared with the harvested area in 2014. Yield per hectare is estimated to decrease (-6 %) for Winter rape. The area cultivated with Winter rape is 93 % of the total area for oilseeds.
