This report provides forecasts concerning the yields per hectare and total production of cereals and oilseed crops for the year 2012. The results are presented at national level.
The yields per hectare for every crop under cereals are estimated to increase by 5–39 % in 2012 year’s harvest compared to the year 2011. The largest increase is forecasted for winter barley. Every crop is estimated to increase compared with the average yields per hectare during the last five years as well.
Compared with 2011 the yields per hectare of the oilseed crops are estimated to increase for winter rape and spring turnip rape and decrease for spring rape. Only spring turnip rape is estimated to increase compared with the average yields per hectare of the previous five years.
The forecast shows that the total production of cereals is estimated to be 5.4 million tons for 2012, which is about 16 % more than 2011 and 10 % more than the average for the years 2007–2011. Higher yields per hectare in combination with a total increase in areas cultivated with cereals are the reasons behind the higher total production for 2012.
This year’s harvest of oilseeds is estimated to be 0.28 million tons, which is about 13 % more than 2011. Compared with the average total production in oilseeds for the last five years the estimation of 2012 year’s production is about 8 % higher. The area cultivated with oilseeds 2012 increase by 16 % compared with the harvested area in 2011.
