Summary

The total amount of cattle in Sweden was estimated to 1 505 415 in December 2008, which is a decrease since December 2007. Dairy cows and other cows decreased during 2008, although the decrease was very subtle. Bulls and steers older than two years, which increased during 2007 by about 18 per cent, decreased during 2008. Once again the decrease was rather subtle. In total, the number of heifers, bulls and steers decreased by about 4 per cent during 2008. The number of calves, however, increased slightly during 2008, having decreased between December 2006 and December 2007.
