Decreased slaughter in June

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in June 2019 was 224 600 tonnes, of which 37 900 tonnes of organic milk. Compared with June 2018, the total delivery of milk decreased by 4 %, while the delivery of organic milk decreased by 2 %.

There were 60 300 tonnes of drinking milk and 18 500 tonnes of acidified milk produced during the month. Organic products made up 11 500 tonnes of produced drinking milk and 2 000 tonnes of produced acidified milk.

Furthermore there were 8 100 tonnes of cream, 6 600 tonnes of cheese, 1 600 tonnes of butter and 6 800 tonnes of milk powder produced in June 2019. The production of cream and cheese included 410 tonnes of organic cream and 130 tonnes of organic cheese.

There were 28 300 cattle slaughtered in June 2019. The total slaughter weight of cattle amounted to 9 300 tonnes, a decrease by 5 % compared with June 2018.

In June there were 192 700 pigs slaughtered. The total slaughter weight of pigs was 17 900 tonnes. In comparison with the statistic for June 2018, the total slaughter weight of pigs decreased by 8 %.

The slaughter of sheep and lambs in June decreased by 10 % compared with June 2018. During the month, there were 16 300 sheep and lambs slaughtered and the total slaughter weight of sheep and lambs amounted to 350 tonnes.

In June the total slaughter weight of poultry was 12 000 tonnes, which is a decrease by roughly 3 % compared with the figures for June 2018. The majority of slaughtered poultry consisted of chicken. The slaughter of chicken decreased by 1 % compared with the same month last year.

This month’s figures for eggs delivered to wholesalers were not available at the time of publication. The statistics will be published in the Statistical database of the Board of Agriculture when available.
