provides forecasts for 2008 concerning the yields per hectare and total production
of cereals and oilseed crops. The results are presented for all of Sweden. Yield
According
to the forecast the yields per hectare of cereals are expected to be between 2
% higher and 7 % higher than the yields for 2007 except for oats and
spring barley that are expected to be respectively 10 % and 2 % lower than
2007. Compared to the average yields for the last five years, the yield per hectare
for the majority of cereals is expected to be up to 1-9 % higher. For oilseed
crops the forecasts of the yields per hectare are higher than the yield per
hectare last year for turnip rape. The other oilseed crops are expected to be
much like last year per hectare. Compared with the average yield for the last
five years, the yields are expected to be higher for turnip rape but lower for
winter rape. Total productionThe
forecast of the total production of cereals is about 5.5 million tons for 2008,
which is about 8 % higher than 2007 and 9 % higher than the average
the years 2003-2007. The reason for this higher production is that the
cultivated areas has increased about 10 % from last year. The total
production of oilseeds is expected to be almost 22 % higher compered to
