production continues to decrease
The
greenhouse production area with tomatoes has decreased with 43 % between
2002 and 2009, from 642 100 m2 to 367 800 m2.
At the same time the tomato production has decreased with 40 %. The production
of year 2009 was 16 % lower than the production of year 2008. Higher yields
for field vegetables
The
production was higher for most field vegetables in 2009 compared to in 2008.
The production increased for cucumber, onion, cauliflower, carrot, white cabbage
and leeks. The production of iceberg lettuce was the same in 2009 as in 2008.
The yield per hectare in 2009 was higher than in 2008 for all field vegetables
except for cucumber. Strawberry
production unchanged
The
cultivated area with strawberries has fluctuated over the years but has decreased
with 21 % since 2005. Though the production has only decreased with
3 % since 2005. The production of strawberries was the same in year 2009
