During the period 1980-2007 the total
consumption of flour and grain has increased with 12 % to 71 kg per head
and year, meat with 29% to 83 kg, vegetables with 82 % to 75 kg and fruit with
31 % to 109 kg. The total consumption of milk during the same period has
decreased from about 185 to 133 litres per head and year, a decrease with 28 %.
In addition, the consumption of edible fats has decreased during the period
from almost 25 to 17 kg per head and year, a decrease with 31 %.
The
total consumption of sugar and treacle was 39 kg per head in 2007 and has been
varying between 39 and 45 during the period 1980-2007. At the same time the
consumption of chocolate and confectionery has increased strongly together with
soft drinks. It seems however that the increase was less dramatic after year
2007. During 2007 the consumption per head and year of chocolate and
confectionery was slightly more than 15 kg and of soft drinks 88 litres which
was 55 % and 196 % higher than 1980.
The National Food
Administration is responsible for the calculations of nutritive values. Since
they are in the process of changing their programme for calculations with new
data, the part "Näringsinnehåll i livsmedelskonsumtionen", tables and graphs
concerning nutritive values are not shown for 2007, but only up to 2005. This
is not of great concern since the changes between separate years close in time
are not that substantial.
During the period
1980-2005 the total supply of energy from food products has increased from 12
000 to about 12 500 kJ per head and day, corresponding to slightly more than 4
%. About 30 % of the total supply of energy comes from bread and cereals, 12 %
from meat and meat products and 22 % from milk, milk products, eggs and edible
fats.
Altogether
- sugar, treacle, chocolate and confectionery, ice cream, beer and soft drinks
etc. account for slightly more than 16 % of the total supply of energy.
