Environmental support

The environmental support is a part of the rural development programme, and is paid to farmers who want to do something to improve the environment.

In the right-hand column you will find data and statistics about the various forms of environmental support. You can see the number of farmers that have received support and the total amount paid. In case the measures is based on a certain area, you can also see how large this area is. Furthermore, the data is reported by county. It refers to application years 2007 and 2008. All documents are in Swedish only.

Most support went to pastures, grassland and organic production


In 2007 some SEK 2.1 billion were spent on various forms of environmental support. This refers to farmers' commitments both for the current and the previous programme.

The largest amount went to support for grassland, organic producion, and pastures and meadows. More than eighty per cent of the total amount paid went to these forms of support.

In 2008 the amount was a little higher, slightly more than SEK 2.3 billion. Also in 2008 the largest amounts went to grassland, organic production, and pastures and meadows.
