Special rules for dogs and cats from Malaysia

In general, it is not allowed to bring dogs or cats from Malaysia to Sweden, but it may be permitted on certain conditions. Import may be allowed if the following conditions are complied with:
  • The animal has not come into contact with pigs during the 60 days immediately preceding export.
  • The animal has not been kept at establishments which have had any case of Nipah disease in the last 60 days.
  • The animal has been tested for Nipah within ten days prior to export and has shown a negative result in ELISA tests for lgG. The test was carried out by a laboratory approved for Nipah analyses by the relevant veterinary authority.
  • The animal complies with the requirements concerning veterinary certificate or pet passport, identification, rabies vaccination, rabies antibody testing, deworming against echinococcus tapeworm and, if needed, clinical examination.
