Certain dogs and cats are not allowed in Sweden
There is no Swedish ban against any particular breed, but it is illegal to keep dogs that - are excessively eager to fight
- are easily angered and bite
- are hard to stop once they attack
- take their fighting instincts out on people and other dogs
Predators must not be kept as pets
It is illegal to keep other predators than dogs, cats or ferrets as pets. Hybrids of wild animals may be allowed
Breeding efforts are ongoing to create new breeds of wild hybrids. Examples include wolf hybrids like Saarlos Wolfhund and Czech wolf hound, as well as wild cat hybrids Bengal, Savannah and Chaussie. If you want to bring such an animal to Sweden, you need to check its pedigree where matings to wild animals are noted. If the last four generations are free from wild animals, you may keep the animal in Sweden.
